Fueling up on sleep for a long afternoon and evening of food and play
The Boogie is ready to have some fun!
The Boogie and H-man: theirs is a love/hate relationship
Setting up the screen
In all its 300 inches of glory
The cake HR made ... white cake with jello, yum! (This was preceded by grilled steak and ribs and chicken, as well as corn on the cob, salad, and deviled eggs. And watermelon, of course. It wouldn't be a 4th of July picnic without watermelon.)
Waiting for it to get dark enough
We watched some old episodes of "The Twilight Zone" while waiting for fireworks to start (note to self: turn off flash when taking pictures of images projected onto a huge screen.)
While watching I had this thought: "I'll bet that when these actors filmed this episode they never imagined that one day 50 years later some people in New Jersey would watch them up on a huge screen in a backyard." Inspirational, isn't it?
Finally, fireworks! First we watched the ones in New York, then the ones in Boston, and lastly the ones in Philadelphia. I have to say I thought the Boston fireworks were the best (and it helped that the Boston Pops played as well.)
You wouldn't know it to look at her, but this Boogie was exhausted . We didn't get home until almost 11:30. It was a fun time, though! I'm sure we'll be watching more movies and playing Wii games in the backyard throughout the summer. :)
