Cherries And Watermelon

I love summertime. It's full of such good stuff to eat! MIL has been getting fresh produce from a co-op garden and we benefit from it.

I've been reading some of my posts from last summer. I'm so glad I've (mostly) kept up my blogging. It makes such a great journal for me. Reading old posts reminds me of things that the Boogie used to do, and I love watching the cute little videos of her. As my mom would say, I am the Boogie's biggest fan. :)

While I love her and think she is adorable and smart and funny, I must admit that she is in the trying stage of Extreme Possessiveness. This is exacerbated by the fact that H-man shares the same feelings. When they are together, well, sometimes all the nearby adults do is referee:

Scenario A.
The Boogie has a golf club. H-man wants the golf club. H-man simply takes the golf club. The Boogie lets out a blood-curdling scream and begins to cry. An adult rushes over, admonishes H-man, takes the golf club from him, returns it to the Boogie, and encourages the children to share. H-man begins to whine and cry.

Scenario B.
The Boogie has a ball. H-man wants the ball. H-man begins to walk toward the Boogie. Before he is anywhere close to her the Boogie lets out a blood-curdling scream and begins to cry. H-man begins to whine for the ball. An adult admonishes the Boogie for screaming, tells H-man that he can't take the Boogie's ball, tries to distract him with another toy, and encourages the children to share.

Scenario C.
H-man has a truck. The Boogie wants the truck. The Boogie takes the truck. H-man takes it back. The Boogie lets out a blood-curdling scream and begins to cry. An adult admonishes the Boogie for taking the truck in the first place, tries to distract her with another toy, and encourages the children to share.

Scenario D.
The Boogie is riding in a toy truck in the backyard. H-man is riding in a toy jeep. They are nowhere near each other. H-man gets out of the jeep and walks over to the swing and asks to get in. The Boogie, from across the yard, lets out a blood-curdling scream, yells "my swing!" and begins to cry ... even though she is nowhere near the swing. An adult admonishes the Boogie for screaming and tells her that the swing is not hers.

Scenario E.
The Boogie and H-man see a toy at the same time and both try to claim it. The Boogie lets out a blood-curdling scream and begins to cry; H-man begins to whine and cry; they play tug-of-war with the toy. An adult intervenes, tells the children they must share and take turns, and begins to supervise the turn-taking. While it is H-man's turn the Boogie cries. While it is the Boogie's turn she lets out a blood-curdling scream anytime H-man comes near her.

I could go on and on but I think you get the picture. It is wearying. The screaming especially is very irritating.

I'll be very happy when Mine-itis has been outgrown. Meanwhile I think I'll eat some more cherries and watermelon.
